One of the 1st species of Odonata that can be seen in the UK is the Large Red damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula). This damselfly can be seen as early as late April in Southern England, however Northern Scotland will typically have to wait until June. This particular Damselfly is fairly widespread throughout the UK.
